Cabo San Lucas Cruise Port: What Can You Walk To?

Cabo has no cruise pier, so every passenger tenders into the marina — which at least means you land in the middle of town rather than at an industrial berth.

Can you walk it?
Yes — walkable from the ship — yes, from the tender pier
Where ships dock
Tender to the marina — there is no cruise pier.
Pier to town
The tender lands you in the marina, in the middle of town.
Typical time ashore
Typically 7am–5pm, tendering.

The marina and the town are compact and walkable, and Médano Beach — the main swimmable one — is a fifteen-minute walk around the bay. El Arco, the rock arch at Land's End, is the thing everyone comes for and it is only reachable by water taxi, about 15 minutes each way. That is a boat, not a walk, but it is cheap and does not require a booked excursion.

What to see on foot in Cabo San Lucas

El Arco

The natural arch at Land's End where the Pacific meets the Sea of Cortez. Water taxi from the marina, about 15 minutes.

Médano Beach

The main swimmable beach, about 15 minutes on foot around the bay. Vendors are constant but good-natured.

The marina boardwalk

A loop of about 3 km around the harbour, with the sportfishing fleet coming in during the afternoon.

Lover's Beach and Divorce Beach

Two beaches back to back at Land's End — one on the calm gulf side, one on the lethal Pacific side. Water taxi only.

San José del Cabo

The older, quieter town 30 km up the coast, with an art district and a colonial square. A bus or taxi.

Planning the day

Water taxi to El Arco first thing — negotiate at the marina rather than booking through the ship — then walk back along the marina and spend the afternoon at Médano Beach. No excursion needed for either.

What to watch out for

Never swim at Divorce Beach; the Pacific side has a lethal undertow. Timeshare touts at the tender pier are aggressive. Agree water taxi prices before boarding.

All-aboard is not the departure time. It is usually 30 to 60 minutes earlier, and a ship waits only for its own excursions. Plan any route to be back at the pier with an hour in hand.

Questions about the Cabo San Lucas port day

Can you walk to a beach in Cabo San Lucas from the tender?

Yes — Médano Beach is about 15 minutes on foot around the bay from the marina, and it is the main swimmable beach. Lover's Beach at Land's End is water taxi only.

Do you need an excursion to see El Arco?

No. Water taxis run continuously from the marina for a fraction of a ship excursion, take about 15 minutes each way, and you negotiate directly at the dock.

What is a self-guided walking tour?

A route you walk on your own schedule, with the commentary delivered to your phone instead of by a guide. There is no meeting point and no group — you start when you want, stop as long as you like at anything that interests you, and skip anything that does not.

How long are the tours?

You choose: 30 minutes, one hour, two hours, or three and more. The route is planned to fit the time, including how long you say you want to spend at each stop.

Does it work offline?

You need a connection to plan the tour and to stream the narration for each stop. Once a stop's audio has played it is cached by your browser, but plan for having data where you are walking.
